What is nose piercing bump?

  • Nose Piercing Bump

Normally, it takes up to 6 months for a pierced nose to heal completely.

During this time, you may experience redness, pus, or mild bleeding on your face.

But a big bump is your biggest problem. Piercing masses are usually pustules,  granulomas, or keloids.

  • Pustule, are a type of pimple that contains yellowish pus. They are larger than whiteheads and blackheads. Pustules appear either as red bumps with white centers or as white bumps that are hard and often tender to the touch. In many cases, the skin around the pustules is red or inflamed.
  • Granulomasis a structure formed during inflammation that is found in many diseases. It is a collection of immune cells known as macrophages. Granulomas form when the immune system attempts to wall off substances it perceives as foreign but is unable to eliminate.
  • Keloids, are raised over growths of scar tissue that occur at the site of a skin injury. They occur where trauma, surgery, blisters, vaccinations, acne or body piercings have injured the skin.

  • Nose Piercing  Bump on Inside Nostril

For the nose piercing is from surface to the inside, so the bump may appear not only in the surface but also the inside.

As we all know, the bump is the reaction of the body when be invade.

For the inside bump, it may take more time to get rid of, you can clean it with the salt water gently, and pay attention to your food and drinks,  have a light diet instead of a heavy diet.

  • Nose Piercing Bump No Pain

Under normal circumstances, nose piercing bumps are not very painful. Especially when we take some release action, the pain can be bear for everyone.

But when your nose piercing bump or the surrounding area of the perforated feels a persistent severe pain, it means you need to seek medical attention.

  • Nose Piercing Bump with Pus

Some pus in the initial stage after perforation is normal.

For your pustule, please don't use the usual way of squeezing the acne to break it.

Because your unsanitized hands and unprofessional methods will make your healing slower.

Worse, it will cause infection and threaten your health.

So when you find and want to get rid of your pustules, please consult a piercer.

They will use professional knowledge and experience to deal with the pus.

  • Nose Piercing Bump with Blood

Nose piercing bumps will inevitably be accompanied by slight bleeding. It will stop after the piercing.

If your nose piercing lump is a granuloma, you may need to spend a lot of money to treat it. And you will also sacrifice a little blood during the treatment.

Keloids are different from granulomas in that they usually do not bleed.

  • Nose Piercing Bump and Infection

If you realize that you are infected, please remember first, never take out your jewelry.

But removing the jewelry during the cleaning process is a huge mistake. We all know that pierced ears will heal quickly, as will as a nasal piercing.

And the most important thing is that after healing, all the viruses will be trapped in the body and cannot be discharged.

So even when you are infected, please keep wearing your jewelry.

If your nose piercing lumps are due to infection, it is essential to consult a doctor for cleaning methods. Follow the doctor's instructions, the ugly lumps and pain will soon disappear.

You need to know that infections are inconvenient, but they are easy to deal with.

  • Nose Piercing Bump with Whitehead

Your nose bump may have the whitehead, it may be the pustule that we mentioned before, the pustules appear either as red bumps with white centers or as white bumps.

Also, it may be the result of clogged pores.

No matter what the specific reason, please remember that do not pop the white head with hand.

If it is not painful, just wait patiently until it disappear, if it is painful, use the salt water to flush gently or go to the doctor for help.

What causes nose piercing bumps?

There is more than one cause of nasal perforated bumps. Many reasons or accidental mistakes can cause nasal perforation.

There are typical reasons which are:

     1. Insufficient experience of the piercers. The experience of the piercer and the mastery of the piercing angle are crucial. Slightly incorrect puncture angle may cause pressure on the nose and cause pimple.

      2. Low-quality piercing jewelry. Jewelry containing nickel can cause physical rejection even more. Some high-quality, hypoallergenic materials such as 316l stainless steel, 14K gold, titanium, etc. which is OUFER uses for most of its jewelry are all void of allergies. Especially for the first puncture, titanium is the most suitable choice.

      3. Cosmetics, hair care products, hair dyes, irritating toothpaste, and other skincare products (may block perforations and cause bumps).

      4. Improper post-operative care (use of irritating chemicals, such as hydrogen peroxide, alcohol or ointment, such as neospore ointment, may cause allergies).

      5. Swimming with unhealed wounds (chlorine in the swimming pool and bacteria in the ocean and rivers can irritate).

      6. Dirty hands touch your nose piercing. Since the nose piercing just sticks to the easily accessible face, your jewelry will often be pulled or touched around. When you put on your shirt and touch the jewelry on your nose in the process, you might even accidentally touch it yourself.

      7. Change jewelry too early (if the puncture does not heal well, changing the jewelry often causes discomfort).

      8. Sleeping on the healing puncture at night.

      9. Excessive cleaning.

When do nose piercing bumps appear?

After a nose piercing, there will be months or as long as six months of healing time.

Although it feels like a long time, it is only short-lived compared to having a beautiful nose ring piercing all the time in the future.

In the first few days or weeks of this healing period, this ugly bump will appear on your piercing site.

Of course, in your opinion, you still cannot believe that you have unfortunately encountered complications, but you should think about the reasons for the lumps even when you have been extremely cautious.

Only in this way can such situations occur and be cured as soon as possible.

How long do nose piercing bumps last?

The appearance of a nose puncture lump means that your puncture has entered the healing period.

However, the time for a nose puncture lump to disappear varies from person to person, and it depends on what kind of lump you are.

If you have keloid scars, then you can only get rid of it through the medical treatment of a doctor.

So before you do a nose puncture, first consider whether you or your family have a scar constitution.

If you have pustules, they can break open, pop out, and drain by themselves.

When this happens, you can make a warm water mixture and place a saline cotton ball on the pustule to help the process.

This will promote the expulsion of as many pustules as possible.

The granuloma will go away on its own over time, but this is not a guarantee.

You may need to see a dermatologist for treatment. Treatment methods include corticosteroid ointments, freezing, and light therapy.

Why is my nose piercing bump not going away?

If you have carefully managed to follow all the recommendations in this article, and your nose puncture still does not look like that after a few weeks due to collisions around the tissue/jewelry.

It is better to seek further medical treatment /Professional help.

Many nose puncture lumps will go away on their own, but scar tissue may require further treatment to effectively remove it.

How to prevent nose piercing bumps?

Some of the causes of nose piercing bumps have been mentioned above, then we can prevent lumps from nose piercing from the bad operation that caused the lumps.

  • Look for a puncture with rich experience and skills, and check the hygiene in the operation in advance to ensure the safety and smoothness of the puncture process from the root cause.
  • Put the jewelry in a suitable place. Don’t take off the jewelry easily, this is the most likely operation to cause complications and lumps.
  • Choose jewelry wisely. OUFER nose rings are made of surgical steel and titanium, safe and healthy, and will not cause physical discomfort.
  • Don’t over clean it. Make sure the piercing area is clean, but don't clean it crazy. Stick to saline solution.
  • Use the sea salt soaking method, which is to soak a handful of cotton cloth or paper towel in your sea salt and water solution, and then press it against your nose. The solution is to mix a quarter teaspoon of sea salt (no iodine) with about 8 ounces of water. Change the tissue after two minutes, then continue for ten minutes. You should do it at least 3 times a day.
  • Don’t take it out even if it is infected.
  • Don't try to blow your nose.

I have had my nose piercing for almost 2 months and the out side look great but the inside I have a white raised tissue on the site. I have been using tea tree oil and cleaning it as I should. What do you think it might be?

Hi,
My piercing had a bump and although I’ve been treating it with the saline solution, I see some sort of extra skin coming out from the area the bump was in. The bump has gotten considerably smaller but there is some skin leftover. Is that what is considered a scar or is it normal? Should I be worried?

Hi, I’ve had my nose piercing for 11 months but have accidentally caught my stud and pulled it out a few times. I have had a red bump for the last few weeks – I think it might be an infection so I’ve been cleaning it more. Can I still change my stud to a ring while I have this issue? I want to do this so I don’t catch it and pull it out again! Thanks.

Hello, I got my bump about two months after the initial piercing day. It looked like a big pimple at first and then gradually it started to get smaller, but one day I accidently yanked the piercing halfway out and when I woke up the next day, it looked like a big puss ball and hasn’t healed since then. Ive had this yellowish bump on my nose for almost a month, it stings a little TINY bit and its tender but no blood. Everytime I soak in hot salt water I feel the sting sensation and it gets soft. Will this bump go away with continuation of good cleaning routine? Thank you!

Dear Alicia,
How long has this bump begun to bigger and bigger? Even this is no pain, I suggest you do some cleaning as the blog guides and apply some erythromycin every day.
Once it is beginning to pain or it continues to grow, please go to the doctor for some help.
